Student Involvement in Assessment
Student involvement in assessment has been shown to be a powerful way to improve the very achievement that is also being assessed. Student involvement in assessment not only makes the achievement targets clearer to students (making it more likely that students can hit them), but also seems to change the motivational aspects of the classroom so that students take more responsibility for their own learning. This session will review the research on student involvement and will demonstrate concrete ways to involve students in both performance assessments and traditional paper and pencil tests.
