Leadership for Excellence in Assessment focuses on helping schools and school districts achieve balance and quality in local assessment systems. Participants will examine a new vision for assessment, the path required to achieve that vision, and the knowledge and skills needed to make it happen.

Who Should Attend This Seminar:
Building Principals, District Administrators, Staff Development Specialists, and Curriculum Directors. Schools and districts are encouraged to send teams of two or more.

Participants will:

Learn how to improve teaching and learning by balancing standardized and classroom assessments
Learn the assessment competencies required of administrators
Increase your understanding of the relationship between assessment and effective schools
Student involvement in the assessment process
Gain the tools you need to help build an assessment literate school culture
Consider what is necessary to merge a local assessment system with one in place at the state level

Upon completion participants will be able to:

Profile your school's and district's assessment practices
Develop a school or district action plan for creating a balanced assessment system
Talk to parents, students, teachers, and community leaders about assessment issues with greater confidence
Apply tools/resources from the seminar in practical ways with teachers, administrators, and parents
