Presenter: Rick Stiggins
For those new to the concept of student-involved classroom assessment, this one-day pre-conference session offers a solid foundation in the principles of sound assessment practices and provides you with a context for the information you will encounter in the conference workshops. Rick Stiggins leads you through an examination of the key connections between assessment and effective schools. You’ll also learn how to balance the roles of standardized tests and classroom assessment, commonsense standards for judging assessment quality and strategies for building balanced assessment programs. At the end of the day, you will have a clear understanding of the difference between assessment of learning and assessment for learning.
